Trojans rally falls just short in opener

Still fresh in the memories of the seniors of Fife High School Trojans was the crushing 46-7 loss to the Cascade Christian Cougars at the Emerald City Kickoff Classic in last season’s opener. The Cougars came into this year’s opener Sept. 6 ranked No. 7 in the Class 1A rankings, according to The News Tribune. However, that meant nothing to the newly reinvigorated and motivated Trojans. Fife Quarterback Devan Bennion came into the game at Sumner’s Sunset Chevrolet Stadium with a slightly bruised rib, but that did not stop him from leading his team, particularly in a fourth-quarter comeback that had Cascade Christian scrambling for answers.
