County plans to trim budget

There are several “firsts” Pierce County will not be celebrating during the upcoming 2010 budget cycle. For starters, this will be the first time in history the county’s valuation total is projected to decrease from $92.6 billion to $88.6 billion. It’s also the first time in at least 20 years that the county is considering a reduction in the General Fund budget, by 2.6 percent, from $277.8 to $270.6 million. Read more...

As the Puyallup Fair comes to an end, members of Fife High School’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter reflect on another successful show. Fife harvest festival offers free family fun

The city of Fife is kicking off the autumn season with its annual Harvest Festival on Oct. 3 at Dacca Park. The event is free and will feature vendors, food, the reptile man with his slithering friends, and a petting zoo. Other activities will include face painting, arts and crafts, a u-fish pond, bouncy toys, kids corner, strolling magicians, Glitterbug and Beep Beep, kids tractor pulls, and a beer garden hosted by Dave’s of Milton will be available for adults.
