It’s been another busy week at Mountain View Community Center. Camp Quest is in full swing, and the kids are having a blast. Volunteers from Whitewater Church have stopped by to help fill KidPower food packs for Mountain View’s summer distribution program, and center volunteers are starting to gear up for Mountain View’s Back to School BBQ on Aug. 26, where 700-plus backpacks of school supplies will be distributed to low income students.
In the meantime, registration is open for Kilometers for Kids Fun Run/Walk, $25 per person, which takes place July 22. This year you have options. You can run/walk as an individual, or be a part of a team. You can also become a fundraiser, taking pledges from friends and family to help support MVCC. And, yes, you can come as your favorite superhero (or create a new superhero). Prizes will be awarded for best time (male and female), most funds raised (team and individual) and, of course, for the best costumes. So get creative, get your friends involved and get going. For local businesses, this is a great team building exercise—and it helps the community to boot!
