Tim McCoy
March 11, 1957 – Oct. 22, 2016

Tim McCoy passed away on Oct. 22 in a tragic dirtbike accident near his home. A Bonney Lake firefighter for 30 years, he was a hero to many. As a husband and father he was a courageous and gentle knight. As a foster dad, he was a shining example of Jesus' love and sacrifice. As a friend, he was a gifted encourager. He treasured time with his brothers, and felt it his duty to keep his family laughing as he wooed and wowed his wife and kids with an unabandoned love. He strove for excellence in all things but would be the first to say his greatest victory is in Jesus.
He is survived by his mother Frances; wife Anna; kids Joshua (Charis), Emily and Alise; siblings Steve, Kevin and Diane; and a host of others who knew him as uncle, mentor and friend.
A celebration of Tim's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 12 at Lighthouse Christian Center in Puyallup (lighthousehome.org). All are welcome to attend. A reception will follow immediately following the service at The Kelley Farm, 20021 Sumner-Buckley Hwy. E., Bonney Lake.
A public viewing will take place from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3 at Curnow Funeral Home, 1504 Main St., Sumner. Parking is limited. The family suggests that you park at the Sumner United Methodist Church, 901 Wood St. Entrance to the parking lot is off of Maple Street.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a gift in Tim’s name to either:
Olive Crest Foster Care – One of Tim’s legacies was his love for the many foster children he welcomed into his home. You can contribute to this ministry through the following link: www.olivecrest.org.
East Pierce Firefighter/Paramedic Tomas Sumbera and family – Tomas is a fellow firefighter whose wife is currently battling Stage IV cancer. They are hoping to enroll her at Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.: www.gofundme.com/elifs-medical-fund-2uhjuwc.
