Pierce County deputies are searching for a wanted sex offender. “Robbin Smith concerns us,” said Pierce County Det. Ed Troyer. “He was working as a caregiver at a home that he was not related to anybody in there, and while he was there he molested a 10 year old girl.”
Smith was convicted of that crime in 1997. He’s failed to register as a sex offender several times since and is missing again in Pierce County.
“He also has many other criminal convictions for harassment and theft and so he’s somebody who we want to know where he is and we want people to know who he is, that way they don’t hire him or he doesn’t end up in another position where another person can become a victim,” said Troyer.
Smith was originally granted a special sex offender sentencing alternative for treatment. He was kicked out of the program after a slew of violations. DOC officers say Smith may be living in an area where there is known or high volume prostitution activity. Smith could be working as a small equipment operator, handyman, or construction worker. He was last employed as a forklift operator at a warehouse in Tacoma. He is known to frequent the industrial area around the Tacoma Dome.
Smith is 62 years old, 5’10” and weighs 150 pounds. If you know where he’s hiding, call an anonymous tip in to Crime Stoppers of Tacoma\Pierce County at 1 (800) 222-TIPS You must call the Crime Stoppers hotline with your tip to be eligible to receive a cash reward for information leading to a fugitive’s arrest.
