Lennar Homes has chosen Edgewood for their newest installation of the NextGen Multi-Generational Family living arrangements. Their offering different floor plans than a traditional home would be an understatement, as every facet of these homes has been carefully maximized for luxury and functionality.
The main floor features premium laminate floors from the gorgeous entry to the showroom kitchen boasting an enormous island with plenty of seating on three sides, plus beautiful energy-efficient stainless steel appliances; including a double oven and a French door refrigerator with freezer on the bottom. The main floor also has an office/den area, open great room with gas fireplace, dining area and separate breakfast nook.
“We will be grand opening this community with a huge event on April 22,” said Valerie Sheets, Lennar PR Director. “The public is invited to attend, tour the gorgeous model homes and enjoy free food from a local food truck vendor, fun kid-oriented activities, music and entertainment.”
Multi-Generational living arrangements have grown rapidly since the turn of the economy in 2008, going from 46.6 million people reporting a multi generational living situation – a living situation consisting of multiple adult age family members – to nearly 56 million in 2012. An estimated 10,000 baby boomers turning 65 each day for the next 17 years are driving interest in such arrangements, and is very unlikely to wane anytime soon. Issues surrounding these living situations are plenty, and pressing. This is where Lennar has identified their NextGen niche to be.
“We’re thrilled to be offering our Next Gen – The Home Within A Home floor plan at Northwood Estates, which was designed specifically to accommodate multigenerational and dual living situations by essentially providing two homes under one roof. A full kitchenette, bathroom, and living area all doubled up in one household, allowing separate living, while remaining close,” says Sheets. “These properties also come with built-in upgrades, like high end granite and marble countertops, to.” The community offers up to 38 new luxury home sites in a scenic area of Edgewood selected because of its picturesque setting, close proximity to everyday conveniences such as shopping centers and restaurants, parks and its access and close location to quality schools. You can walk to the historical Nyholm Windmill, Edgewood's only recognized landmark and a formal symbol of the city. Also nearby is Edgemont Park, a wooded five-acre park with a tot lot, playground, baseball diamond, soccer field, basketball court and even a picnic shelter for fun outdoor gatherings and parties – truly a breath of fresh air for an expanding city like Edgewood, which is currently a very family friendly area.
Lennar was among the first homebuilders to tap this new market for multigenerational homes when it introduced its NextGen project in 2012 in Phoenix. Local NextGen projects have been popping up ever since. When asked about upcoming communities, Sheets happily retorted, “Yes! In addition to Northwood Estates, we are grand opening three more new home communities nearby. Norpoint Heights in Federal Way is now selling, Harbor View Heights in Northeast Tacoma will open this spring and View Pointe, also in Edgewood, is scheduled to open later this year.”
These homes will not only provide families with relief from the members in their household, but will enrich and stimulate the local economy. Surrounding areas will no longer have singular holds on economy, due to spread families or out of town residency. Edgewood will be growing soon, in the most luxurious and needed manner.
