Low-income families in Pierce County will receive access to benefits and services thanks to federal government stimulus money. Non-profit organizations will be selected following a competitive application process. Faith and community-based organizations will receive training, technical assistance and funding through Associated Ministries of Tacoma/Pierce County. Organizations that are currently, or are interested in meeting critical needs of low-income households, have an opportunity to build their capacity. Capacity building will be provided through a series of training workshops, coupled with one-on-one technical assistance, or mentoring.  Additionally, participating organizations will be granted $5,000 to $20,000 for capacity buildings measures.

Interested applicants are encouraged to attend an information session taking place from 8:30-10 a.m. on Feb. 12 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, located at 10333 Bridgeport Way S.W. in Lakewood. For more information call Reverend Heidi Calhoun at (253) 383-3056, extension 117.
