A list of local Valentines' Day events

Feb. 13-14 – Big Cats, Big Party
Celebrate big cats with a big party at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. Throughout Valentine’s weekend, fall in love with tigers all over again at the Big Cats, Big Party celebration. Visitors will be able to touch tiger fur and partake in some fur-matching and roar-translating fun. Big Cats, Big Party lasts from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days and is appropriate for all ages. Festivities are free with zoo admission.

Feb. 14 – Blood drive
Mountain View Community Center and Lutheran Church is hosting a blood drive from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Cascade Regional Blood Services. This event is open to anyone in the community. Mountain View Community Center is located at 3505 122nd Ave. E., in Edgewood.

Feb. 14 – Fife Senior Center dines out
Get a group of friends together and join the Fife Senior Center for the monthly meal out. This month’s restaurant is Tacoma’s C.I. Shenanigans. Trip will begin at 9 a.m. and go until noon. Participation cost $5. For more information, call (253) 922-0900.

Feb. 14 – Smokey Robinson at the EQC
With his eternally smooth and instantly recognizable falsetto alone – without the strings, bass, guitar or drums – legendary singer/songwriter/producer Smokey Robinson’s honey-coated voice absolutely is the audio equivalent of comfort food…comfort food for the soul… with soul. Feb. 14 – Hidden River Valentine’s Champagne Brunch and Dinner
Hidden River presents its annual Valentine’s Day Champagne Brunch and Dinner celebration. Brunch will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner will take place 7-11 p.m. Both events feature live music by local acts. Enjoy mouth-watering dishes with local fresh meats and produce combined with the upscale service you would expect at a four-star restaurant in any major metropolitan city. There will be vegetarian options available as well as a complimentary first round. Hidden River is situated just 25 miles east of Olympia and a mere 75-minute drive from downtown Seattle. Feb. 20 – Community garage sale
The Fife/Milton Kiwanis and Watch D.O.G.S program have teamed up with Freedom Storage Centers of Milton to host a community garage sale.
Organizers are asking residents to donate items and drop them off at Freedom Storage Center’s “Donation Posts.” Proceeds from this sale will benefit the Fife School District and the community. Those who bring items to Donation Posts will receive a free lunch. The next donation collection time is Feb. 20 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Freedom Storage Center is located at 296 Porter Way in Milton.
