Fife businesses prepare for emergencies

The Fife Regional Chamber of Commerce is giving local residents and business the opportunity to prepare for disasters and emergencies. They will be holding a Business Emergency Preparedness and Recovery seminar and expo on Feb. 3. The event will be held at the Emerald Queen Casino from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The February Luncheon will feature Wendy Freitag, Business Liaison from the Washington Emergency Management Department, who will talk about steps businesses can make to assure a quick recovery following a disaster. Freitag will also facilitate a panel discussion with more in-depth details on specific tools needed for disaster preparedness and recovery.
A panel is planned for the event, featuring Steve Finley from the Rainier Chapter of the American Red Cross; Diane Schurr with the Pierce County Emergency Management Division; Barb Nelson with PCNET; Corey Wilkins, State Farm Insurance; Mark Naubert with Washington Archives.
Expo vendors include City of Fife Police Department and Building Department, Tacoma Diesel and Equipment, Allied Electric Farmers Insurance, Light Module, Mountain Mist, as well as Pierce County Emergency Management, Washington Archives, and State Farm Insurance.
