Plans are being laid now for the sixth annual Columbia Junior High Booster Club dessert auction and dinner to be held 6-9 p.m. Nov. 14 at the junior high school. With all funds raised going directly to purchase educational items for the eighth- and ninth-graders, this event is the perfect opportunity to socialize with friends old and new, to support the students, and to satisfy your sweet tooth all at the same time.

Booster Club President Jody Carlson said organizers are currently seeking volunteers to:

  • donate/prepare desserts for the live auction;
  • solicit area businesses for silent auction items;
  • package silent auction items;
  • organize food and beverages for the event;
  • manage auction tables, and more.

She noted that the booster club is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit, so donations are tax-deductible according to all applicable laws. Businesses that donate will receive recognition in the auction catalog that will be distributed to all attendees, and on a placard that will be placed beside the donation on the auction table. “Any level of support they can offer is greatly appreciated,” Carlson said.

Those wishing to lend a hand can call Carlson at (206) 650-4542 or e-mail her at kts206@comcast.net; or contact Booster Club Dessert Auction Chair Valerie Parker at (253) 632-9406 or parkergal@msn.com.

Desserts including all kinds of pastries, pies, cakes and more will be on the block for the live auction. The silent auction will feature gift baskets full of merchandise, including some big ticket items, donated by local businesses. A grand prize drawing will be held for an exceptionally nice gift basket; raffle tickets will be sold the night of the auction for $2.50 each. Winners need not be present to claim their prize.

Dinner will also be available for purchase at the event.

Admission tickets for the auction are $5 each and will be available soon from Columbia Junior High students, who will get the chance to win gift certificates to their favorite store for selling the most tickets.

Or, get a ticket order form now at www.fifeschools.com – click on the Columbia Junior High link, then on the “Booster Club” link to the left. For those who cannot attend, donations are most welcome and information on how to do this is included on the order form.
