Schools make fee payments more convenient

Fife High School and Columbia Junior High School have a new feature on their websites that allows parents to pay all Associated Student Body (ASB) fees online with a debit or credit card. No longer will students have to bring signed checks to school and fill in the dollar amounts themselves, and parents will not have to make special trips to the school to make such payments – now it can be done online. Payments can be made all at one time if parents so choose, and they can also pay fees that might pop up during the school year as well.
Mark Knight, principal at the high school, said the district simply wants to offer convenience to busy moms, dads and guardians. “Basically we want to give families more options in terms of how they pay for the different fees and things that come along with high school, such as yearbooks, parking passes, those types of things,” he said, noting that the option to make online payments via credit and debit cards is commonplace these days. “We put this into place so our families can do the same.”
The feature allows fee payment for a big list of things including annuals and yearbooks, club dues, athletics/sports, dances and events, vocational class fees, band and more. Knight said several parents have already used the new system.
All that is needed for parents and guardians to access the system is their child’s student identification number. Or, for those who have no children in the school system but want to make donations, log-in requires filling out a short and easy form with basic information.

Free money for Fife schools
Local Safeway shoppers and eScrip participants can help the Fife School District make money for its schools.
All Safeway/eScrip receipts collected from Aug. 6-Sept. 9 will have a special redemption code at the bottom that the eScrip coordinator at designated Fife schools (see below) can use to get 10 percent of the sales total donated to the school. Non-eScrip participants can collect Safeway receipts with redemption codes Sept. 12-Oct. 13. Tell your friends and neighbors to save their receipts, add them to yours and turn them in to the PTA/PIE at any of the schools listed below.
If you shop at Safeway and have already signed up with eScrip.com and connected your card to your choice of schools, you are all set and will automatically contribute 10 percent.
Signing up for eScrip.com is easy. Log on to www.escrip.com and click on “Sign Up” in the “Make a Difference in 4 Easy Steps” box. Enter your information, Safeway card number and the code for up to three of these schools: Discovery Primary School – 8561902; Endeavour Inter-mediate School – 8562222; Hedden Elementary School – 500016191; Surprise Lake Middle School – 8567216.
